Leading online distributor, SiteMinder, has revealed that its channel management platform delivered its hotel customers over $1 billion dollars in booking revenue from online channels in the past 12 months
SiteMinder’s General Manager for Sales and Marketing, David Williams, said he expects the revenue for hotel clients who use SiteMinder’s online distribution technology to increase significantly in coming years as the use of online booking sites continues to grow extensively around the world.
“Since SiteMinder’s launch in 2006, our ever-expanding worldwide distribution network has given our hotels in all regions access to a multitude of local and international consumers. Properties of all sizes are benefitting from putting their inventory in front of growing audiences,” says Mr Williams.
SiteMinder’s pooled inventory model has also played a part in this statistic as properties can optimise their online revenue potential by having all available rooms on all of their channels all of the time without the fear of overbooking. “Hotels are confidently maximising their booking potential via a common pool of inventory as opposed to having to split their inventory across their distribution channels. Splitting their inventory leaves the hotel at risk of missing potential booking revenue,” he said.
“This is one of the fastest growing sectors of the travel industry and we are very proud of the success that our hotels have achieved in the past 12 months. We look forward to increasing their distribution options and helping them achieve and exceed their online revenue goals in the coming 12 month,” said Mr Williams.
