SiteMinder’s Room Distribution Exchange (RDX) platform will power a new channel management service being offered by major German hotel software provider, hetras, as part of a distribution partnership signed between the two companies.
The announcement, made by SiteMinder at the world’s largest tourism convention, ITB Berlin (March 6-10, 2013), means hetras, which offers cloud-based hotel reservation and management products, will now be able to link accommodation providers to hundreds of online travel agencies around the world, providing a one-stop-shop software service for hoteliers.
SiteMinder’s Head of Sales for Northern Europe, Cassian Silins, said: “For PMS and CRS vendors like hetras, offering hotel customers two-way connectivity with booking channels is vital in an increasingly competitive market. RDX eliminates the inherent complexity involved in building and maintaining multiple channel connections for PMS and CRS vendors. By turning distribution into a commodity item, RDX has allowed hetras to simply ‘plug’ into the RDX platform and gain not only direct connections with hundreds of the world’s leading sites, but also their own completely branded and supportable distribution product.”
“We are delighted hetras has chosen RDX to power its new channel management module – vital technology which will bolster the company’s product offering and ensure its hotel customers have all the software tools they need to compete online,” Mr Silins said.
Managing Director for hetras (www.hetras.com), Keith Gruen, said: “With online travel agencies (OTAs) now commanding up to 40 per cent of all room reservations, close cooperation between hotels and OTAs has become more critical than ever. By choosing RDX to power our own channel manager, we will be able to offer hotel clients a complete, one-stop-shop hotel management software package that includes channel distribution so hoteliers can benefit from direct, automated, two-way access to top-performing reservation sites around the world. Instead of using hetras’ reservation software and then signing up with another vendor for channel management, hotels can now rely on hetras to connect them with the world.”
